Supercharged, Healthy, Chocolate "longevity" Candy
Chocolate Candy just got sexy, healthy, and kid-friendly all at the same time! Indeed these chocolates are multi-purpose for sure.
The traumatic scars from my loathing of Halloween candy back in October had sparked a manic assignment to create a healthy candy of my own. And though it took until Valentine’s Day, the wait was totally worth it since these chocolates are now in our freezer at all times.
What makes these chocolates multi-purpose?

They’re kid-friendly!
For this recipe, I wanted to come up with something with minimal ingredients, low sugar, wholesome healthy fats, with the option to add food-as-medicine variations if desired. As I mentioned earlier, I really do have an issue with holidays and the way we normalize processed foods. Especially kid-focused holidays like Halloween and Valentines Day. There’s no reason our children need to have highly-processed, GMO corn-derived sugars with artificial colors & dyes, when there are way too many other options. And yes, sometimes….you have to get creative!

A great chocolate to use while fasting
These also double as a great candy to use with any type of fasting-mimicking diet as the carb content is super low using 1 tsp of honey for the entire recipe. (If you are concerned about blood sugar, or looking to stay in ketosis, go ahead and test because everyone will react differently). Will be posting more great info on fasting, but for now.. just know these are most likely the healthiest chocolates you will eat! Note: I don’t often use non-caloric sweeteners (stevia, monkfruit, xylitol), as I don’t feel they’re always favorable to the insulin response or overall health, but if you’re looking to cut the sugar out totally, feel free to play with some of these.
Superfoods are sexy
Raw cacao is jam packed with flavonoids that promote antioxidant activity as well as improved insulin sensitivity, cognitive function, and mood. Potential Superfood Add-ons
The cool thing about these is you really can’t taste them in the chocolate so things won’t get weird as long as you stick to amounts. Basically anywhere from 1 tsp-1Tbsp.
Greens powders

Maca Powder
One of my favorite hormone-boosters ever!
Native to the Andean region of Peru, maca has been cultivated for 2000+ years. It’s rich in fatty acids, amino acids, vitamin C, fiber, and a host of minerals. It also carries potent bioactive compounds making it popular for its benefits related to sexual dysfunction, hormone balance, and fertility. It’s also energy-building so it works for an afternoon pick-me-up sans caffeine.
Turmeric (curcuma longa)

Super-powered, Healthy Chocolate Candy Chunks
1 cup cocoa butter wafers
2 Tbsp coconut oil
2 Tbsp raw cacao powder (or Wildfoods cocotropic)
1 tsp honey (feel free to add more if you like or sub maple syrup or yacon syrup for vegan option)
1/4-1/2 tsp Sea salt
Optional: 1 tsp turmeric, maca, or superfood powder like Dr. Cowan’s powders
In a double boiler (or bowl on top of a pot of boiling water), melt the wafers & coconut oil., stirring constantly. (You can also use a microwave but I have not tested for this purpose). Add in the remaining ingredients and turn off heat. Mix until smooth & ingredients are dissolved. Add 2 Tbsp to silicone molds, or muffin tins. Freeze until solid and wrap if desired.
Makes 12 (2 Tbsp sized pieces)
