Hip streches are one of the best post run stretches around, if practiced correctly

Oh the dreaded standing hip stretch!
The hips are the storage tank for a lot of our physical and emotional baggage. After a run we get that baggage nice and stirred up and ready to exit the body, but don’t leave out the most important step, your hip stretch!

Sometimes after a run in the cold, i don’t want to get all the way down into pigeon pose if the ground is freezing so I have become friends with a modified standing version, (demonstrated here in my video). I do this pose several times a day, not just after a run because it opens up my hips tremendously.

Watch my nerdy video description here!!

Written Description: Begin by holding onto something, a fence, a bench, your car, whatever you can grab. Or if you want to combine it into a balancing pose, feel free to stand on a flat surface with your arms by your side. Put all your weight into your left foot as you pick up your right foot and rest your right ankle just above your left knee and pull the toes back. Then bend the left leg, (up to 90 degrees)  and feel the stretch. Hold for 3 to 4 long breaths, and release those toxins!
